Boutique Sri Lanka (BSL)

Ambalama Villa

A stylish, four bedroomed, modern beach villa designed by one of Sri Lanka's leading ex-pat architects. This 5 star resort villa offers both intimacy and complete privacy in its position near a beautiful coral lagoon, just south of Galle. From its pristine strip of beach it is only a short walk to several popular restaurants, but the quality of the in-house dining will soon tempt you back.

Spend lazy days under the shady araylia trees by the sheltered infinity pool, welcome the evening with a sundowner and gaze out to sea at the twinkling lights on ships passing by on the ocean. You may even hear the distant sound of temple music wafting along on the evening breeze.

The interior of the house is a lofty, uncluttered space with soaring, weathered timber pillars, where the neutral tones of the natural materials used in construction are highlighted by warm accent colours in the fabric of the large squashy sofas. The attractive floor is laid with large marble tiles of impressive size with interesting areas of small mosaics.

The sitting area leads out onto a terrace through high louvred doors by way of oversized 'stepping stones' to an intimate courtyard with tiny garden and pool. At the other end of the room the stylish round dining table and chairs are complimented by the very elegant white china and black handled cutlery. Soft background lighting from modern fittings is augmented by well placed lamps and an interesting collection of art work adorns the wall and shelves. By night, the villa paints a spectacular image. Its exterior is flooded by light thereby throwing up the palm trees black in relief against the darkening sky.

Historic, cultural Galle provides much local interest, from the sunset walk on the Fort ramparts, the countless quality boutiques tucked away in the narrow Fort streets, to an International cricket match.

Dining

Food is in the hands of the resident chef, who will buy and prepare anything you desire. Local lobsters, prawns and other delicious sea foods are plentiful. You may enjoy accompanying Chef to market one day to admire the vast array of tropical fruits and vegetables and the amazing day's catch by the the local fishermen.

Discuss with Chef, daily or weekly, what you would like to eat, and how you would like it prepared. If you feel like a change of environment there are several popular restaurants a short walk away and some excellent sophisticated, restaurants in Galle.
