The beautiful East Coast of Sri Lanka is home to some of the most breathtaking seascapes you will ever see. From its sparkling turquoise blue waters to the unending stretch of unspoilt champagne/gold sandy beaches, it is on-par with the South Coast beaches in Sri Lanka, just more laid back and tranquil.

Kalkudah Beach House is located here on a 25-acre Coconut Estate in Kalkudah. A 6-hour drive from Colombo takes you to the property. This lovely beach house was originally a family home abandoned during the war. Its walls were partly destroyed during the Tsunami of 2004, but its Dutch-inspired windows and doors remained. Refurbished, now this beach house is a pleasure to be in. Its idyllic setting and ambience are perfect for a relaxing holiday by the beach.

Kalkudah beach house boasts 5 Bedrooms, shared living and dining spaces, a lovely garden with a pool surrounded by coconut palms and a breathtaking view of the iridescent ocean beyond. It’s lovely, wide beach and inviting warm waters entice you to spend your days relaxing on the beach. A swim at sunrise, and a drink on the beach at sundown are a must during your stay. It’s a surreal experience.

Rooms

The Beach House consists of 2 sections. The Main house, which has 3 rooms and the Palm Villa right next to it that has 2 rooms. A total of 5 rooms. The rooms run 100% on solar power for electricity and also have purified water running from all its taps.

Main House

the 3 rooms of the main house share a living and dining space on the ground floor.

Beach View Room (33sqm)

located on the ground floor and has a queen-sized bed, a private veranda with seating that leads out to the garden.

Beach View Suite (38sqm)

also located on the ground floor the suite consists of a king-sized bed convertible to a twin if required and a private veranda with outdoor seating leading out to the beach.

Kalkudah Suite (725sqm)

This large suite occupies the whole of the top floor of the main house, king sized beds with a private balcony with spectacular views of the Ocean.

Palm Villa

the 2 suites at the villa share a living and dining space.

Beach View Suites

the 2 suites are ideal for families and consist of a king-sized beds convertible to a twin if required and a private veranda with outdoor seating leading out to the beach.

Dining

A la carte menus are available at the beach house and the food is prepared and served in the shared dining areas.

Things to do & local tips

Pasikudah Beach

its white sandy beach and sparkling waters are very inviting. The water is warm and clear. The beach is unspoilt, but flip-flops may be required when walking around due to little bits of coral debris that may have washed up to shore.
